This weekend’s Clay and Fiber Festival in Bishop Hill offers a little something for everyone!
Saturday August 15
  • Bishop Hill Heritage Association Pie and Ice Cream Social, 1-4 pm in the village park.
  • Sample a delicious Soup Supper and keep the handmade pottery bowl. The Colony School, 5pm. Reservation required: 309-927-3008. Proceeds benefit the Galva Food Pantry.
  • Enjoy Music at 2pm behind the Blacksmith Shop. Galva folk musician, Wendy Anderson, performs.

Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16

  • Art Exhibition Opening at the Welcome Center featuring water-colorist, Mary Philips. Refreshments.
  • Special Exhibit in VagnHall Galleri will showcasing the lifelong work of ceramicist, Henry Jo.
  • Fiber artists will sell and demonstrate their work behind the Blacksmith Shop.
  • Ben Watkins Clay Studio will provide opportunities for spectators to get a hands on experience with clay and fiber.
  • Members of the Illinois Association of Wheat Weavers will exhibit techniques used to transform wheat straw into delicate works of art  and offer their work for sale at the Steeple Building.
Sunday August 16

  • Swedish musical group, Akervinda will give a workshop on Nordic folksong at 1pm followed by a concert at 4pm in the Dairy Building.
